Trouble with GRUB: dual-booting Kali on Windows 8.1

First post here, forgive me if I lack the proper etiquette.

My issue is, after finishing the installation of Kali Linux on a new partition as detailed in:

GRUB refuses to show up on boot up, whether I bring up UEFI with F2 or not. Even when I go into UEFI to look at boot options later I can't find anything resembling GRUB or Kali Linux to boot with. Just the Windows boot loader, IPv4 something something, and IPv6 something something.

I've turned off secure boot, and Windows fast start-up in the control Panel

I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo Y50.
