Raspberry Pi 4B + Kali Linux 2021.1 + Waveshare 5.5 AMOLED Not Working

Amidst the many successful and answered Waveshare TFT LCD screen help threads I cannot find one for the Waveshare 5.5 inch AMOLED model which is the only one I have sadly.

I see the Re4son-Pi-TFT-Setup tool here doesn't include the 5.5 inch screen (nor should it, its not TFT). I have also tried the Waveshare 5.5 inch AMOLED setup instructions here

The instructions say to add the following lines to the config.txt, but to no avail.

The screen is 1080p and is HDMI. The screen has power and turns on but the image is distorted beyond recognition.

I'm wondering what else I could try or if there is some added functionality to the TFT tool that I am unaware of.
