How to capture 802.11ac data frames with Alfa AWUS036ACH monitor mode using 88XXau driver?

Hi,
I came to know about Kali Linux and thought that being powerful enough to do security testing I would be able to use it as a sniffer in monitor mode.
Bought myself the Alfa AWUS036ACH but I can't capture 802.11ac VHT data frames. I have open mode connections (no encryption).
I suspect this has is perhaps because I'm not configuring the monitor mode properly, in the sense that perhaps I'm not picking the proper BW, or center frequency or so.
I would appreciate very much if someone can help me by 1) confirming if it's actually possible to capture data frames with this sniffer and 2) how to do it.
