HI guy's i'm having problem with my Alfa AWUS036H its always in channel -1, did anyone have encounter this problem?
Please help me out!
I have broadcomm 43142 wireless card and I've been trying to install drivers for it on Live Kali linux.
I'd really appreciate it if some one helped me out.
Please reply in detail. I'm a complete beginner to Linux!!
Thank you in advance
newbie here I am new to kali linux and i have a HP Elitebook8460p with an Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6205 i cannot recieve packet injection is there a patch for this wlan or drivers were can i find them and how to install thank you
Hi,
I've just bought a TP Link 725N for Kali linux as a virtual machine.
I installed the r8188eu driver. It works fine... but when I try airmon-ng start wlan0, I get this:
But the wlan0 is still Mode:Managed (iwconfig) and there is no mon0.Code:Found 3 processes that could cause trouble.
If airodump-ng, aireplay-ng or airtun-ng stops working after
a short period of time, you may want to kill (some of) them!
-e
PID Name
8600 NetworkManager
8604 wpa_supplicant
9864 dhclient
Process with PID 9864 (dhclient) is running on interface wlan0
Interface Chipset Driver
wlan0 Unknown r8188eu (monitor mode enabled)
Any Idea ?
I've (successfully) install Kali-mini ISO from DVD but I am experiencing some wireless problems. I hope this is the right spot to post my question. I'll get it out of the way as it is one of those questions I have'nt found fully answered on the forum or/and the solutions posted and researched have either not worked or does not apply to my situation.
Issue: wlan0: error fetching interface information: device not found

Other info: wicd is installed and works just fine but no wlan0 devices are detected so it is pretty much useless atm.

Any other suggestions ? My experience level with the CLi is [moderate].
Would like to post an update to my question. I resolved the issue with a bit of research. Hopefully this may help someone else. [level of difficulty: 2/easy]
First, you must establish some kind of eth0 connection or else you won't be able to follow the rest of this info. (assuming this is for the device you are troubleshooting)
Things you need:
your Ralink model: example: RT2800
internet connection example: eth0 up ...192.168.1.225
Terminal
wicdSecond: After you have your internet connection and wicd is configured properly, (both wlan0 and eth0 are enabled) then you can open your terminal and enter code:Code:apt-get install wicd
According to: https://wiki.debian.org/rt2800pci#Installation the kernel module is automatically loaded for supported devices.Code:
apt-get install firmware-ralink
That's it!
This worked for me. As I mentioned in my previous post [ at time of posting this it has not been displayed yet ] I installed kali-mini via ISO DVD to Hard Disk Partition (very easy). Not sure if this issue was a problem for a normal install on a Hard Disk.
HTH
Hope that someone can help me out.

I found work around for Ubuntu 14.04 here on my language and added device number but wifi connection is still not working.
http://root.com.hr/airlive-wn-370usb...-14-04-problem
I have also tried this work around for other adapter but it still wont work.

I'm new in this so when i downloaded drivers i dont know how to install them?
Or do i have to install before trying this workaround?
Thank you for your help.
I put my usb wireless adapter in monitor mode but when I start airodump-by this happens ioctl (siocsifflags) failed: Connection timed out
I am running Kali Linux 1.0.7 in virtual box please help
I just dual-booted kali 1.0.7 kernel 3.14 and i searched everywhere for a solution to make my wireless card bcm43142 work in kali linux, I found some drivers here: http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php , but I didn't know how to make them work, I tried this: http://www.kalilinux.net/community/t...k-in-kali.814/ , but didn't work because it only works on kernel 3.12. HELP ME PLEASE, thank you.
I faced screen flickering issues with default b43 drivers for BCM4331. Screen flickers every few seconds when Wifi is on, no issues when Wifi is switched off.
Replaced the b43 drivers with the STA drivers direct from Broadcom and the flickering was gone.
BCM43142 is supported with the current STA drivers.
1) Download the file to a USB drive
2) Follow the steps in the readme
in my laptop i have just install the kali linux.
in the same machine i have windows 7 ,debian and kali linux.
i connect to intenerte via wirless chipset inter N-3010.
Either in debier or windows i have a good band width (32-50 MBS)
but in the kali linux i only get 7Mbs.
Bouth in debian an kali i have the same driver.
please can you help me to solve it .
Thanks.
In debian I have the flowing

Hi
I just started with kali linux and i need help!
I made a Live CD of kali linux 32bit and its running great on my mac
but i do not have internet on lan or wireless :( i tied everything
I found a driver but i can't install it and this was no help: http://www.broadcom.com/docs/linux_s...30.223.248.txt
Skype: sadrisadri215
Thx Sadfiesch
I am running on an Acer Aspire V5 laptop with a Broadcom BCM43228 wlan adapter (onboard).
I cant get it to work no matter what I try. I have googled for 4 days now, tried all bugfixes i found.
the b43 firmware installer gives the following error:
" No chroot environment found. Starting normal installation."
" This card is actually not tested. Please install the driver manually."
Usually, the wl driver worked for me, but this time, no matter what i tried so far, was working to get it to work.
Basically, the wl.ko module wont install / run properly.
The funny thing is that on Debian Wheezy, the wl installer would run fine without errors and work perfectly.
Note: I am a linux newbie. I have gained a little experience while working with Debian and recently switched to kali.
I am currently having issues with Kali Linux on VMware. I used BackTrack 5 briefly a few years ago but im back at it again. The issue i have is wlan0 will not show up when i have LINKSYS wusb6300 plugged in and connected through VMware. I do not remember having this issue on BT5 as it was an easy plug in play (at least for me) and i was connected to my access point right away. Right now I cant even select wireless or even join any network because it is grayed out. Is there a new procedure or am i overlooking a very basic/novice step? My thread is still pending for approval in the support section. I have also read some of the guidelines on the site as well as watched videos on youtube (installing compat-wireless) but i still can not get wlan0 to show up. Any help is appreciated.
Screenshot of my network set up (yes ive also to bridge and it wont work)
Almost forgot, of course the only other way to connect to my network is wired "eth0" which is working properly.
Hello Everyone!
Before I start, I would just like to say:
I am completely new to Kali Linux. So please, don't judge.
I am running Kali linux on a persistence live USB
The machine I am using is an Apple Macbook Air 13'' (Late 2013)
To start off I know that Kali Linux does not support the Wi-fi adapter of 2013 models, and if there are any ways to fix that please let me know (Trust me I've tried quite a lot to fix it but it doesn't work). Now that I got that out of the way may I just ask:
Is there any Wi-fi adapter that supports mac (late 2013 models) and Kali Linux?
If there are please tell me. I've been looking at the Alfa AWUS036NHA and have been wondering if it has any sort of compatibility with my machine. If there are any others (that obviously support injection, and yada yada) please tell me. It would be greatly appreciated :D .
If you have any suggestions please let me know ASAP...
Thank You So Much! :)
I have a little problem, I decided to get an upgrade for my wireless. Seeing that Alfa got a good reputation I thought I give it a go, so i bought a Alfa AWUS036NHR (V1) with a 5db antenna.
And then the fun starts, after spending hours and hours i still haven't got this thing working properly, i changed the db from 20 to 30, and all the other suggestions online, but nothing really seems to work.
It performs really bad, even my on-board wireless does a better job, anyone out here that got this thing working properly?
Sniffing only gets me a few results and is really really slow, and injecting doesn't seem to work well (not) either...
Is there any hope to get this thing to act normal, or should i move on?
OK, I'm done with my patience i had to register and ask for help.
My hardware: Alfa awus036nh
My problem: i cant access the internet ... it is really strange. I have listed all available wifi networks of the USB adapter, but if i try to connect it wont.
The history: 1. I installed kali 1.0.2 amd64 and everything worked great ... after i perform "apt-get upgrade" the network manager showed that I'm connected, but couldn't access the internet nor my router over the IP 192.168.1.1.
2. After i got stuck on the 1.0.2 (after "apt-get upgrade") i tried 1.0.3 amd64, and now I'm not able to connect to the wireless at all.
I tried to put wlan0 (my integrated wireless card) down ("ifconfig wlan0 down"), but had no luck ... tried to put eth0 and lo down, but nothing ... i tried everything that i found googling, but there's not much information for Kali out there ATM.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is anybody found a solution for this problem? Only I can connect to wifi but no internet...
Hi Alexcreator.
You can try:
1)Try to set CRDA:
e.gCode:iw reg set <your country code>
it's very weird that dmesg shows you only 5GHz and 60 GHz band frequencies:Code:iw reg set US
if you are unsure try to use world regulatory domain. Kali sets by default the world regulatory domain:Quote:

dmesg should look like this:Code:iw reg set 00

2) Look at /etc/network/interfaces file. If there are other then those ones:
delete them and restart networking and networkmanager.Quote:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
3) Try to give a static IP,. Network-manager->Edit connections.Code:service network-manager stop
service networking stop
service networking start
service network-manager start
4) See if you can ping a site. Maybe it's a DNS resolving problem.
If you can't ping any site look at /etc/resolv.conf file and add a DNS server: e.g. OPEN DNS servers:
you can add this also if you set a statip IP to your connection. step 3 above.Code:nameserver 208.67.222.222
nameserver 208.67.220.220
5) Unload and load your wireless NICs driver
6) See your iptables.Code:modprobe -r <your driver>
modprobe <your driver>
7) Try to use a different wireless NIC.
8) Have patience :)
That's all for now. Good luck!

hi guys i bought a acer laptop with a bcm43228 and then i install kali, update, upgrade everything, install STA driver to get my wireless card working, but no way for aircXck-ng suite especially the monitor mode wasn't working, then in fact the only way to make it working and it's working really good so the trick after days of fight is to update your kernel image and sources to at least 2.17+, i upgrade to 2.18 rc5, then update your grub, install driver b43 fw cutter and b43 driver, then make sure your driver WL ( if was working on your 2.14 kali system) is unload or absent, then modprobe b43 and ssd and you got it ... Everything is working now ! make a persistent for all boot, and you roxx !
sorry for my french english ;)
Take care cheers guys
wizzhard

hey guys,
i am having a problem with my Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8187 Wireless Adapter.
i am trying to set the txpower to 30 after one year to scan networks,
i just recently upgraded my kali install and try to boost the signal.
this is what i did...
ifconfig wlan0 down << no problems so far ...
iw reg set BO << no error..
ifconfig wlan0 up << no prob
but then when i check the settings with iwconfig it still says Tx-Power 20 dBm
so i put it down again ..
then i try iwconfig wlan0 txpower 30, ifconfig wlan0 up and still no changes.
any body has any solution for this?
i never had this problem.
checked the network manager service, network service stopt it started it, did it again but some how i am unable the set the 20 dBm to 30 dBm.
thanks in advance!
I am a novice user on most linux and ubuntu os. Been using Kali Linux for almost a year now. But still having problems with my Broadcom Wireless Card BCM4311 on my (HP) Compaq Presario V6000. When it was Windows Xp originally, it decided to go out. I had disabled it, uninstalled it from the hardware device manager, and rebooted the laptop and it worked for a short period. I also had a munufacter problem with the display showing color problems, turning pink and had a line through the screen. I eventually stopped using the laptop for some number of years cause i had bought a few others over the course of time. So once i started having some issues with the others i decided to go back into the closet to get the laptop out. I then decided to reformat it to Windows 7 and update the Graphics card and got it to work, but it would act up every now and then. So i said screw it and replaced it with Kali. That ended up fixing my graphics issue. But still nothing on the wireless card. I updated the Bios using Bart PE and winPHLASH and the exe setup. Still nothing. I had tried installing and reinstalling b43-fwcutter, as well as some others. I have seen a suggestion for bcmwl-kernel-source but i get no candidate in the terminal. i have updated, upgraded, and dist-upgrade, updated grub and kernel and still nothing. Im Currently using 3.18.0-kali1-686-pae. i have played around with the blacklisting and modprobs, and the rfkill unblock. nothing.. please help.. There has to be some kind of way to make it work. Im using a Ralink usb card, but it isnt mine. im just borrowing it to fix this **** thing..
I have problem with my Alfa AWUS036NHA adapter, when i connect it to Kali installed on vBOx it only shows me a few wifi networks and most of them are locked so i cant connect to them, on windows 7 i see way more avilable networks and i can connect to 2 of them. Do i need to install some drivers for this adapter on linux kali and if so can anybody give me a quick tutorial?
I just want to add some informations. I'v reinstalled Kali on my VirtualBox and when i connect my adapter pc slow down, then when i click on networks it find few wifi connections but i am unable to connect to them , no matter how strong signal is, there is 3 bar strong connection and i am still unable to connect. Can somebody help me out please?
so just update .
got the driver installed but its not loaded ... ill post if i find anything.
i found the answer with my google.fu!! i think :)

this link helped me a lot it involves an upgrade good luck !! :)
Hi Im having some trouble with my Alfa card AWUS036NHA. Im running Kali on Virtualbox on my mid 2013 Mac running 10.9 and for some reason my Alfa card randomly disconnects after about 10-15 minutes of being connected to Kali Linux. Its really getting annoying so how can I fix it?
@reaganrockz if your using virtual box are you bridge network connection in virtual machine settings ??!! That's usually how vm gets the internet . u might wanna install VM tools. If ur trying aircrack to test how secure your wifi is you need a separate WiFi USB card it won't work with host hardware. Kali does require careful prep research before u get the hardware. I found out the hard way.
So I have 43b1 running WL driver but I don't have monit0r mode. The driver from what I have read WL driver doesn't support aircrack. I have yet to find a driver to the 43b1 out there working besides the WL I've read other drivers work but fails when I try to install. But does anyone have some type of hint to my issue ? I would appreciate it I've been using Google.fu for a couple months tirelessly and no solution yet..
This will fix it.

Go here, follow instructions to find out what your wifi device is.
Once you know, scroll down to the table called BROADCOM WIRELESS TABLE (Updated 21 February 2015)
This will tell you the package to install
EG.
apt-get install firmware-b43-installer
Once installed, turn on the wifi hardware switch. Then on next to network.
Hi. I had bought Edimax EW-7811UTC AC600 Wireless USB and I want to install the drivers on linux to have ethernet. How I can install Edimax EW-7811UTC AC600 Wireless USB with no internet (no ethernet) ? In the instruction manual it states that "An active connection is required for Linux driver installation". Having no access to wired network I'm unable to follow the steps in manual and was wondering whether there's an alternative way of installing it without the internet connection.
Edimax manual:

How I can install the driver without internet?
PS Sorry for my english!
