Disk encryption password won't type

Hello there,
I'm working with a fresh install of Kali on my computer using VMWare. The OS boots and there are minimal issues up to the point where it says:
Please unlock disk sda5_crypt.
At this point my encrypted LVN password refuses to type. The OS doesn't freeze. I can press enter and it will return the crypt setup failed error.
Please help.

Did you try typing the whole password then press enter :D

I think to have a false sense of security password is kept invisible while typing.
