drm_kms_helper *ERROR, please help

So it has been a while than I've been having issues logging in with Kali Linux, even after recovering different snapshots. Been looking around in the internet but found nothing related to my problem. I've decided to look around the tty terminal and tried to access as root. But couldn't login. Tried with my user account and gained access but for a very short period of time when the system freezes and I couldn't type anything anymore. After some time this appears:

This one has been going on for some time but I don't know what it means or what should I do. Any help?

as it's in a VM I'd just delete it and recreate a fresh install
