Can not boot the installation interface

Couple of seemingly random questions.

What size is the thumb drive you are trying to use?

What method did you use to place the iso on the thumb drive? (Win32DiskImager or dd?)

What is the partition type of the thumb drive?

Have you tried making your own up-to-date iso using the Kali live build?
