Xtightvnc memory leak is crashing Kali Linux

Running Kali Linux as a vm and I noticed lots of "error: could not fork" and other strange messages plus it seemed sluggish. Checked top and all memory + swap was used up and I narrowed it down to Xtightvnc. When it is started I do not even need to connect to it, it will eat up all available memory and eventually crash Kali.

Found out the hard way you can't "apt-get remove" it either without also taking out kali-linux-sdr, kali-linux-voip, kali-linux-wireless, etc. And the bzip files from the tightvnc site seem to be corrupt. Any ideas?
