Terminal not showing up in Live USB

I just made a live USB and I can boot off it fine but when I try to open the terminal it will not open. Every time I click on it, it flashes on the screen and quickly disappears. I've tried opening applications in the terminal but the same thing happens. Things like Ice Weasel and non-terminal applications work fine but for some reason terminal refuses to open. Does anyone know what is going on?

I am using the 64 bit Kali Architecture and I am running it on a Dell inspiron 530 that I wiped and am now running Ubuntu on.
