Backup the file interfaces in etc/network/
killall network-manager
or service networking stop
killall wpa_supplicant if needed
ifconfig to check to see what all is up and down

Sometimes association through aireplay-ng has helped.
airodump-ng --bssid 00:11:22:33:44:55 -c 6 mon0
aireplay-ng -1 10 -a 00:11:22:33:44:55 mon0
Then run reaver with the -A switch.
reaver...
