thank you. i did this and now i have a text console login. i went ahead and installed cinnamon but startx and telinit 5 do not start the desktop. did i miss a package somewhere along the way?

to avoid unneeded packages and issues removing des is there a way to install kali with zero DE and then add one later?
LXDE menu issue
Is it a bug that in the LXDE desktop environment under the Other category there are system utilities such as top displayed? Makes the menu huge and they are not shown on any other DE.
