Oh No! i have ordered the same usb adapter and it will be delivered by tomorrow. Am also running the amd64 kali version. Hope i don't encounter the same problem.
I dont know if YUMI is good or not. But i have had success with Universal Usb Installer program. Google about it and you will get it. Watch some tutorials on youtube on how its used to mount kali.
