apt-get install alsa-utils -y

reboot
and then copy and past this

systemctl --user enable pulseaudio && systemctl --user start pulseaudio

sound icon is on...

i would suggest download a new kali linux as the one you have on CD or USB is corrupt
or maybe remove gnome and reinstall it

Not to sure if i have put this in write section of forum - GQRX comes with Kali


Does anyone use Telive Tetra gqrx ?

Do i need to have GQRX running same time as Telive and Tetra for...

i am new/newbie to Kali if i had a Gnome issue i would do the following
apt-get remove gnome-core
reboot
apt-get install gome-core

Does this come with SSB and LSB Modules like AM FM USB
If not can you tell me or link me how to install/compile these please
