After an apt upgrade.. I have this thick border around the terminal window. (Transparent background is currently turned ON in the profile preferences)
Anybody know how to fix this...

Make an image from your first USB since it's just 5GB and restore it to the new 8GB. Hope this helps :)

What is your kernel release and version? Usually apt-get update and apt-get upgrade solves this problem.
Also you can try apt-cache policy virtualbox to see the candidate and version table then...
