Seems I figured it out. Disabled extension Easy Screen Cast; seems normal now.
hey guys, 2 laptops, an HP and a Toshiba both have same issue; slow unlock. Takes over a minute to unlock from either manual or time based screen lock. My Dell is pretty much instant.
Fresh Kali...
I get parsing error :/
update- used ES explorer instead of Astro and no errors.
I had same but mine was on a Vbox install. Reinstalling guest additions fixed it. You don't mention vbox so this probably doesn't apply but thought I'd toss it out just in case.
Sorry for late reply. I took defaults in the install.
I had to DD back to 2.0 and redo the whole upgrade.
This happened to me on 2 machines. If you start the upgrade and your screen locks you won't be able to get back in. Yours might work, 2 of mine didn't.
Same with mine but actually worse. Logged in as root I have the desktop icons but can't resize them. Logged in as my regular user, icons don't show (yes went into tweak tool and verified selected)....
Anyone? Really hung up here.
I fixed mine with a different mouse.
I think that might be beyond my skill level. Looks like its meant to be used in the package update, not by end-user? i tried renaming the file so I would think the installer wouldn't even see it but...
I know better than to dupe a thread but was getting desperate as I got no real help here so I did. My apologies.
You too? Interesting. Maybe together we can find an answer.
I've tried the things mentioned, looked at each error and tried to track back to possible sources. No, never touched any of the files prior to this starting. Will check out the script. Thank you!
This error is on a Nethunter install but didn't get any workable ideas over there so thought I'd try here. Should be same as regular Kali. It must be a permissions issue but I can't figure it out.
...
Anyone have any ideas at all?
and apt-get autoremove fails too. "unmet dependencies":

Thank you for responding! Output is this:
root@kali:~# ls -lah /etc/apache2/sites-available
total 60K
drwxrwxr-x. 2 root root 4.0K Dec 11 02:38 .
drwxr-xr-x. 7 root root 4.0K Dec 11 02:38 .....
still hoping for ideas on this. Really don't want to wipe this thing because a file can't be overwritten....
Checked owner and permissions for /etc/apache2/sites-available/000-default.conf , exactly same as my regular Kali laptop. Don't see why it can't overwrite this. Even renamed it can't write it. I can...
Come on guys, help me out here. I can't get apache2 either on or off. I've tried everything suggested and all I've found on google.....
error appears to be in trying to overwrite /etc/apache2/sites-available/000-default.conf > I tried renaming this to .old and it still gives same error. I'm really lost :(
There's nothing wrong with /var/cache/apt/archives/apache2_2.4.10+deb8u1_armhf.deb I renamed it, it refetched and gave same errors
Had to edit sources.list and put the 2.0 sources in. After that all updates except apache2 which fails still.
Got everything updated except apache2. Seems it has dependency issues. tells me to use apt-get install -f. that tries then returns
"errors were encountered while processing:...
This remains totally broken. I'm guessing this has something to do with regular Kali 1.x being end of life? Like the nethunter packages were on the server that was wiped?
I'm having the same issue on a fresh 2.0 install. My sources.list is correct. I even cleared it and redid it from the list.
Running this:
aptitude -r install network-manager-openvpn-gnome...
Stupid busy at work, haven't had time to mess with this yet.
Not sure how to get a screenshot prior to login... Guess I could take a pic with a phone
I've got 2 Kali 2.0 installs, one is a VBOX install on my main pc, other is a stand-alone install on a Dell e6410 laptop.
On the VM, grub looks perfect; its blue, partial screen, and you read the...
Same thing, mostly 404s :(
Yea, solid wifi. Will try other. Thanks!
Lots of "failed to fetch" messages last few times I've tried. Idea?
I've been fighting mouse lag in 2.0 since day 1. Click...wait....click....wait.... Last night I decided to try something so simple that I didn't think it could possibly work; swapped out the mouse....
Had a feeling that was the case. Thank you.
Had my old Kali 1.x laptop out today to run updates, got a bunch of 404s on apt-get update. Have the old repositories been abandoned?
Mine is the same, not really usable due to the lag. I tried updating Gnome to 3.16 based on some other posts, helped a little but not much. If you use XFCE desktop its much faster but not as easy to...
OK, resolved. Had to get the latest .deb package from Oracle and install with dpkg.
Tried to install virtualbox on a standard Kali 2.0 laptop. Used "apt-get install virtualbox". Seemed fine but got an error that the driver didn't install. Vbox opens fine but can't start a VM. Gives...
If anyone ever has this question in the future, 2.0 installs fine on e6410.
Yea, have to agree. Thanks.
Can anyone verify 2.0 will install and run on this laptop without major issues? My old D610 just won't do 2.0 so considering picking up a refurb E6410. Its a i5, 8GB, 1TB hardrive. Will run Kali...
Thank you very much! That was indeed the fix.
Last couple days. Cannot start it manually either.
Yes, OTA will fail.
Thanks guys
Updated to the new version running 5.02, first chroot update went fine but now it wants to update metasploit. Errors out as it used to so started metasploit, still errors out. Retried and and still...
