I think you meant AWUS036NH. AWUS036H has RTL8187L.
RT3070 is supported out of the box by Kali via the rt2800usb driver which properly supports monitor mode and packet injection.
I think this may be the issue. I had a Kali 1.0.9 live USB with persistence that used to work flawlessly. Then 10.9.5 came up and the live USB ceased to boot on Apple hardware. It simply states: "No...
