What tool do you use to write the ISO to the USB stick?
Is the stick fat32 formated?
Do you plug the stick directly into the PC or into a USB hub?
Since Kali comes with the root user in default an no need to add a normal user I started setting up my system using the root user.

Well in my case it only brings up Gnome Version 3.4.2.1 so it doesn't update to the newest one, which would be nice because it would support SkyDrive in the online accounts if it would be a newer...
