That said I managed to install the old version then 2021.2 on top of it in TWRP via a usb drive.

(was trying to install drivers for rtl-8812au) which also requires apt update and apt upgrade. Found an old torrent for marshmallow so...
I found another random USB wireless wifi adapter laying around the house and it's working with that one. Not the TPLinks.... It doesn't have a brand name on it and is completely black, so no idea...
I'm trying to get back into this after a few years, had 2 TPLinks TL-WN722N version 1.1 laying around. Neither of them work. Light doesn't come on even with OTG splitter. So yeah, 2020.2 nexus 7...
