Is it only the 'persistent' partition that is persistent. I have it working to this point (if I create a new file/folder in the persistent partition, these files are still available after reboot)

Ok I was able to proceed by selecting eth0 instead of the wifi as the primary connection, then letting it fail after it tries to DHCP and selecting to configure the network later.

I'm installing Kali 2 using the .iso image.

I don't want to connect to wifi or any network right now, just want to do a fresh installation.
