Ok so I have tried this on both macbook pro late 2011 running osx 10.8.5 and a macbook pro mid 2009 model running mavericks. So here is what I have tried so far:

Its a macbook pro late 2011 model rung osx 10.8.5. When I try to boot it using the DVD, It just boots to OSX. Kali linux is never detected. At this point I will more than happy with even a dual boot...
