I've been facing same problem for days, finally I solved by unplugging and plugging again the USB dongle, sadly I have to replug it every time, but now works.

I get your point, here 2 options:
1) Activate root user (not recommended if you are going to use it day by day):

Issue command ?sudo su?
<Enter the password for kali user account>
Issue command...
