NIC card light goes out on boot

The network card was working during a new Kali install. When powering on the system, the light is on, but the moment Kali starts to load the light goes out. There is a cable plugged in and is good. It is not the hardware since it was working during the installation. Network services are active. The network cards shows as enp2s0, but is DOWN. Any suggestions?

Here is what displays on screen the moment the nic lights go out:
[0.0241671] [Firmware Bug]: TSC_DEADLINE disabled due to Errata: please update microcode to version: 0x20 (or later)
    /dev/mapper/kali--vg-root: recovering journal
    /dev/mapper/kali--vg-root: clean, 19035/7200768 files, 858911/28796928 blocks

    Tried sudo apt install intel-microcode
