Using router as a WiFi card

Hi, I am a completely newbie at Kali Linux, I have just installed the Everything version as a native OS but the problem is I have no descent external WiFi adapter, the laptop witch I installed Kali in just has a very basic WiFi card, so my question is if is possible to port a router as an external WiFi adapter in order to have more range and scanning capacity functions? Thanks in advance.

If your router can run OpenWrt firmware you could install aircrack on it.

You might want to look at the requirements, one of them is to have 1gig of free space which on most routers will not fit unless you have a USB port on the router and at least 1 gig drive and also install extroot.
