Kali on Virtualbox - set internet wifi adaptor in monitor mode

Supposedly you should just select "Bridged Adapter" in Virtualbox and then when you sudo ifconfig you should see something like"vboxnet0" and then you should be able to airmon as usual.

Does not work - so can not set internal wifi adapter (on laptop) in monitor mode.

I'm on Macos by the way

    Thanks

Your internal WiFi is being used by Mac OSX, this means it cannot then be used by a virtual box install of Kali, you just get a virtual Ethernet connection instead.

If you want WiFi capability within your Virtual Box Kali instance, you will need a USB WiFi adapter that can be set exclusively for Kali in the VM
