    Hello Everyone,

I have been using Kali Linux for some time on live usb etc... I have an empty Sata slot and have purchased an SSD today and designated that as a Kali Linux OS.

I have 2 Alfa Antennas/Usb's - I have the AWUS052NH which has a MTK RT3572 chipset and I also have the AWUS036ACH which has and uses RTL8812AU chipset.

Also, I have a built in wifi card (Mediatek I think it is) which works perfectly fine in windows and has worked over live usb as well as through a Virtualbox. This device does not even show up neither does wlan0....

I have tried installing both 32 and 64 bit. I have a 64 bit... Anyways, I have tried everything I can think of and tried reading on many different tops and I cannot seem to get the wireless to work for the life of me. However, ethernet works fine.

What is also interesting is my AWUS036ACH doesn't show the power light blinking at all.. However, the AWUS052NH does blink but if I go to the top right corner and click on the wired icon.. I see that it keeps showing wireless and then it disappears and as it disappears it says disconnecting/not connected its hard to really get a good look and it will keep doing this until it actually ends up freezing Kali and I have to use the power button to shut it off and try again. I have also tried installing he drivers off the installation disk...

Can someone please help me here so I can get this working properly once and for all? Thank you in advance for reading this and for any replies.

    Hi!

I'm running Kali on VMware and it don't detect "wlan0" when I type "iwconfig". I only get "lo" and "eth0" and it says "no wireless extensions" in front of them.
I tried pretty much anything that it has been said on this thread and nothing worked. But I'm such a noob that it won't suprise me if I've done a mistake.
Each time that I use "airmon-ng" I get "no access to /sys/class/ieee80211/", I don't know if it can help.
    When I type "dmesg" I can't see anywhere "wlan0", there's just "eth0".
And I even tried "lspci" and it seems that my ethernet controller is detected.

I don't know if this is just a problem of drivers or not.
Can someone help me to fix that?

Note : I can't connect my computer with ethernet because I don't have a physical access to the box that I'm trying to reach (student room). My only access to WiFi that works is with my phone. So if I need to download some packages to update my drivers, I have to download them with my phone and then, with a SD card, transfer the files to my computer.

Sorry for my bad english, and thanks in advance for any help!

Update : it seems that is the fault of VMware that doesn't support wireless adaptater, I'll try to make a live USB as soon as possible to confirm this out. But if someone has an other solution I'll really appreciate!

I hub a MacBook Pro 2015 to which I run Kali 2016.1 from a persistence USB and an Alfa AWSU036NEH dongle. Monitor mode is working fine, but injection will not associate with access points or work when I test with aireplay-ng. Can someone enlighten me as to a fix.

I think you can read this topic follow link http://docs.kali.org/installation/tr...-driver-issues. You can solve your problem.

Hi. I got a Broadcom BCM43124 Card in my HP 255 G4. The standard article did not help me (unless I missed something). Does someone know where i can get an appropriate driver?

I have a very simple issue, im guessing its easy to fix but i just cant get where the problem is.
Im running kali linux on VMWare and it seems the ettercap scanning for host
always returns 3 odd IP addresses that i dont know where they came from.
    192.168.132.1
    192.168.132.2
    192.168.132.254
Im pretty dumb, but im guessing its the VMWare, i could maybe fix it by using kali live,
but then i wont learn anything. Plz if u know what i could do, then reply. Im just looking to learn here.

    Hello,

I am trying to install TP-LINK Archer T2UH AC600 in a Kali Linux 2016.2 with Kernel 4.6 but I cant find a driver that works with it.
    All the drivers that I try comes with the same message;

kapoios: I think I had this issue. My Mac Air crashed every time I plugged in the USB. I think, but not 100% sure, was that the issue was due to me having installed the vendor's drivers on the host, in my case my Mac ( OSX ). Remove/Uninstall the drivers from the host and see if that helps. Good Luck.

    Hii

Am mostly too close on giving up on this .. I wasted 1 whole day already reading about this stupid issue !

I cant make my intel advanced –n 6205 wireless card to work with kali 4.8.0-kali2-amd64 althought its supposed to be fully supported by Intel and the kernel version ..
Am not a linux geek , but still am not a noob at all

I followed every manual on how to do it , with 0 luck , please be kind and help me !
Below is some results of certain commands

    (Lsmod ¦ grep iwlwifi )

    Iwlwifi iwldvm
    Cfg80211 iwlwifi,mac80211,iwdvm

Interface doent show on ifconfig , but shows in iwconfig
I tried to remove and load the iwlwifi module several times with no luck

Dmesg shows (Rf kill bit toggled to disable radio)

    (Rfkill list )returns
    soft blocked : no
    Hard blocked : yes

Rfkill unblock all has no effect on the wifi blocking at all

    Please advise

    No networks found (Network Manager)

    Hi all,

I am running Kali in a Lenovo Ideapad 110 with a Wireless Card Mini PCI-E QCNFA435. Kali is fully updated.

This is the issue I am facing:
I can see the wireless interface with iwconfig and ifconfig and it is also seen by Wifite, Reaver, Airmon-ng etc... I can see the networks around me using software like the ones mentioned before.

Network manager sees my wireless card but it doesn't find any networks so I am unable to reach the internet wirelessly.

I have searched around the forums and also google and couldn't find a solution.

    Cheers,
    Owl.

Hello everyone and thanks for reading me, (Sorry for my english I'm french)
I post here, I hope it is ok, it seems to be the place where we can talk about network issues.

I bought my AWUS036H, I connect it to my Mac, VMWARE Fusion asks to what system I want it to connect the AWUS I select Linux.
In Linux, no green light on the cart but when I do "airman-ng" my cart is detected 1/2, and when it is detected I can do monitoring "airman-ng start wlan0" and the answer is good. But, even when it's detected :

    - first, I can't selected a wifi, only the icon wifi appears, nothing else.
    - And when I want to do a any test with my wifi, for example with airman-ng or here with Fluxion, the card disconnect every time when it is used. I take a picture to show you my problem.
    - Sometimes the cart is detected, but 2 minutes later, it is not detected anymore.

I tried to found drivers but they seems to not work in my case. I try to reinstall
my Virtual Machine but it don't help too.

    Example of the problem :
    problème wlan.jpg

I don't know why it happened, because I read that the drivers are normally already installed in kali, so I don't understand,
    Thanks for reading me

TP-LINK TL-WN722N V2 not showing as Atheros (Realtek instead) and not working in VM

Hello, I have a VM (Virtualbox) install of 64 bit Linux kali 4.9.0-kali3-amd64. Recently I bought a TP-LINK TL-WN722N and when I installed it, it showed as a Realtek chipset (it doesn't show as Atheros, which is what I read it should) and I am having some trouble getting it to run properly on Kali Linux. I installed it in an Ubuntu machine, and also in the Host machine (Windows 10) and it works fine in both instances.

Below is some output of a few commands:

    iwconfig

    Code:
    root@kali:~# iwconfig
    eth1 no wireless extensions.

    lo no wireless extensions.

    eth0 no wireless extensions.

When I check in the USB devices of the VMWare, it shows as Realtek 802.11n NIC, but when I do lsusb it displays no info or the vendor at all:

    Code:
    root@kali:~# lsusb

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 80ee:0021 VirtualBox USB Tablet
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

    I tried:
    • Making sure it's uninstalled in the host machine
    • Installing the compat-drivers
    • Once compat-drivers are installed, I can see wlan0 and wlan1, but neither of those can do anything, they don't detect networks or send/receive any traffic at all.
    • Reinstalling in the host machine the latest drivers
    • Connecting the USB to other slot
    • Verifying that the USB is set up (filtered) as USB 2.0 in the Virtualbox settings
    • Changing the filter to USB 3.0

The machine I'm using is a Dell XPS15.

Thank you for any help, it is greatly appreciated.

I found the reason. The TP-LINK TL-WN722N adapter you used must be version 2.0. You can check the version on the tag located on the back of the adapter or on the bottom of the package box. Change it to version 1.X then it will work.

Question Broadcom 4360 drivers not being loaded

    Hello everyone,
Spent massive amount of time trying to get my wireless to work on Macbook Pro (Retina). I am running Kali Linux (rolling) on Mac with Dual Boot.
My wireless card is Broadcom 4360.

    lspci -vv output shortly was:
Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 03)

I googled around and the current default drivers on Kali are not loading (they would be wrong anyway). So I tried follow the following guide since this should enable Broadcom 4360 properly: https://wiki.debian.org/wl
I follow steps 1-3 but I got an error on step 4.
The thing is I should be running version 4.9 but for some reason when I try to do 'modprobe wl' I get a fatal error - for some reason the command looks for the file in the 4.6 version and cant find it.

See attached the output from step 1-4 with the error.

Can anyone help me understand why i can't make it load the right driver - how do i change it to look in the right place?

Hello from Mexico excuse me, I hope you can endenteder since I do not know English and I do not write it either, so I use a translation to communicate with you. And installed kali linux on a laptop dell inspiron 5000 series and I could not, I do not know how to install the wifi driver, I have an integrated wifi card (dual band wireless-ac 3165). Will there be drivers for this type of wifi card? And if there is ... how do you install? Since I am new to linux and especially in kali linux, God bless you and thank you very much, I hope your prompt help.

Drivers for your wifi adapter come pre-installed in kali.

    • Changing the filter to USB 3.0

The machine I'm using is a Dell XPS15.

Thank you for any help, it is greatly appreciated.

    TP-LINK TL-WN722N V2 - Relatek

Unfortunately tp-link used to use different chipsets between 2 versions of same card...

I had same issue and I solved it by porting official TP-link driver to work with kernel 4.9.

You can obtain fixed driver from:

    Hello all,
I just got a TP Link TL-WN722N Wireless card earlier today, and have been trying to get it to work for the past 5 days. I've done a ton of research, and am absolutely tearing my hair out trying to solve this supposedly simple problem. From what I have read, the chipset driver is already included in the kernel and shouldn't need to be downloaded. However, when I run "ifconfig" or "iwconfig" I only get my 3 standard devices: lo, wlan0 and eth0. It should be showing up as wlan1, but nothing. I am testing it in a functioning USB port, and have tested the adapter on my Windows computer with success. I know it isn't detected because the green light inside the adapter that blinks when a machine detects it has been silent while it is in my Kali machine.

I was able to download the drivers for the adapter from TP-link's website, but I don't know how to build it. There is no tar.gz, no .exe, and no files with endings other than a wpa_0_8.conf. Everything else has no file type. There is a Makefile, but I don't know how to use it. ./configure, sudo make and sudo make install just return errors. I think the drivers are probably installed, but I'm not sure.

lsusb shows a device that I have identified as the wireless card, but there is no comment/information text that follows the bus and device id. Running "dmesg | tail" shows me that the usb device is connected, and tells me that it is a Realtek card. Again, there is no output in iwconfig.

I would greatly appreciate some help with this issue. If you need any more information, please let me know and I would be happy to supply it so that I can solve this.
    Thanks,
    u/GarrukApex

I have already used this chip with my host to test whether the hardware was faulty or not. It worked great on my host machine for endless time.
The problem I face is that when i plug it in, it works fine for like 5 minutes and then the it stops working at all. Replugging doesn't help, I can use it again for 5 minutes again after I reboot.
I would be glad if someone could help me out please!!!

It has a realtek rtl8188eus chipset. Try instructions on this website https://l33ttutorials.wordpress.com/...-kali-linux-2/. It worked for me.
P.S. it doesnt support monitor mode.

make[1]: *** /lib/modules/4.0.0-kali1-amd64/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
Try making this directory if you are using kali live
    Code:
    mkdir /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build -f
Most probably it should exist if you are using installed version of kali linux.
Run this if you are using installed kali
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
    reboot
    sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
    reboot

Just spent 3 days trying to get this dongle to work. There were a ton of different ideas most of which didn't work.

I ended up installing Manges driver which almost worked - was able to connect to wireless and use network but both airmon-ng start wlan0 and ifconfig down, iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor failed to work.

Tried jeremyb31 and the cu driver as well which also failed.

Odd thing was while my dongle was connected and working airmon-ng was listing it as Phy Null and Driver ??????.

I took the dongle outside and smashed it with a hammer and ordered the 722N which I know works. I shouldn't have done that to the dongle because it works perfectly in Windows. Not sure why we have 1980s themed problems like this in 2017 operating systems but it is what it is.

mfruba, the only way I could get your 20150417 driver to work(4.4 won't build) under kali 4.9 is to first install lwfinger driver then your 20150417 driver. Also, TL-WN722N v2 Realtek green light does not work when running; airodump-ng was collecting but no light on usb device. Can you please provide details instructions?

    Hi, I have a AWUS051nh v2, with a Ralink RT3572 chipset
When I fresh install Kali linux 2017.1 it works like a charm, but when I dist-upgraded to 4.12.0-kali1-amd64 it stated showing a weak wireless signal (it has less than half the bars and I am 1 meter away from the router), also it used to show like 30 Access point, and now its down to 5 or 6.
I'm using 2800usb drivers, as I was when I first installed it.

I did reinstall the firmware and tried to reinstall the driver, but I'm kinda new to linux (and pen-testing as well).

    Code:
    uname -a
    Linux Satelite 4.12.0-kali1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.12.6-1kali6 (2017-08-30) x86_64 GNU/Linux
    Code:
    airmon-ng --verbose

    Distributor ID:	Kali
    Description:	Kali GNU/Linux Rolling
    Release:	kali-rolling
    Codename:	kali-rolling

    Linux Satelite 4.12.0-kali1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.12.6-1kali6 (2017-08-30) x86_64 GNU/Linux

K indicates driver is from 4.12.0-kali1-amd64
V indicates driver comes directly from the vendor, almost certainly a bad thing
S indicates driver comes from the staging tree, these drivers are meant for reference not actual use, BEWARE
? indicates we do not know where the driver comes from... report this

I flashed Kali on a Oneplus One Android phone running lineageos, and I'm trying to get Kali to recognize the TL-WN722N version 2. Before trying to use this adapter on the phone, I was using it on a laptop running Galliumos linux. I installed the driver for the adapter using these commands

    Code:
sudo apt install git dkms git make build-essential
    cd /usr/src
    sudo git clone https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8188eu.git
    sudo dkms add ./rtl8188eu
    sudo dkms build 8188eu/1.0
    sudo dkms install 8188eu/1.0
    sudo modprobe 8188eu
so I tried using the same commands in kali to install the driver on the Oneplus One.
Kali executed the first four commands, but when I typed
    Code:
    dkms build 8188eu/1.0
    I got an error:

    Code:
    root@kali:/usr/src# dkms build 8188eu/1.0
    Error! echo
Your kernel headers for kernel 3.4.112-lineageos-g70467aa5 cannot be found at

    root@kali:/usr/src#
Is there a solution for this?

    Hello Community,

Last night I spent at least 5 hours trying to get wi-fi working on my laptop after a fresh Kali install. The online research let me to the compat wireless driver, after installing it the Wi-Fi interface shows up but it won't discover any networks and even after reading countless of guides and watching several youtube videos I am still not closer to the solution. One thing to note is that after the driver installation, when I go to network manager and try to see if there are any wi-fi networks available, the LED light on my wi-fi button on the keyboard is flickering white (normally its continuous orange when its off), so it gives me the impression that it's somehow trying to discover new networks but they don't show.

My laptop: HP Envy 15 j140-na
You can find the specs here: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c04350018

I started fresh again, took some screenshots to show the situation.

    Before compat driver installation:

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1...l5QW94REZjR0hV (airmon-ng command screen)
    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1...JlX1pEMGVoTFVF (lsusb/lspci command screen)

    After compat driver installation:
    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1...NCYXF1QWpHQ2ww (Network Manager Wi-Fi screen)
    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1...p3aFYxb2JiUWNn (ipconfig/iwconfig command screen)

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1...JHRlJpWmNIRFRR (airmon-ng, lsusb/lspci screen)

I'm a Kali noob, installed the OS for the course I started doing so apologies if the solution is very simple and it's been covered in another thread.

Appreciate the help and will be happy to provide any additional info if it helps.

PS: The touchpad seems overly sensitive too and tapping on it doesn't count as clicking. Is this normal with Kali?

    Thanks!

Wlan0 showing up but no networks. Wifi just shows a blank box and wifi settings does not show anything. Txpower is 0 and I have tried every command to fix it. Nothing changes it. Wlan0 is up and even shows networks when you put it it monitor mode using airmon-ng

Hi all, I have a extremely frustrating problem i currently run kali on a VM on a MacBook Pro and i am trying to use my wireless card "Panda Wireless PAU09" it is a recommended card and is said to be "Plug and Play" without having to install drivers and/or configuring it, but this has not been the case for me.

I can run 'iwconfig" "lsusb" and "dmesg" and all of them display the same thing "Bus 001 Device 002: ID 148f:5572 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT5572 Wireless Adapter" but after i looked deeper into "dmesg" it shows that it is loading the firmware "rt2800usb and rt2870.bin" being loaded and they are able to activate successfully but i still cannot see any wifi networks, the device is found but not networks are. When i run "dmesg" and run it twice an error pops up and says "IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready"

I have installed all drivers that i can get my hands on, i have contacted panda and they gave me a "linux" driver which ended up being corrupt and non-working i also added a few blacklisted sources to aid the drivers and this was recommended by a few people and after doing so my wifi shows up for a few seconds then goes away. The sources are for the ralink driver family "http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian jessie InRelease and http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian Strech InRelease"

If you have any solution i wad really appreciate a reply because i am going crazy trying to get my card working with kali.

    Hi,
I have Kali on a bootable usb and when I try to run it I get this error: ''IPv6: ADDRCONF (NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready.''
    Please note:

    Hi
I have 2 wifi adapters : alpha awus036nha (atheros 9271) un awus036ach (RTL 8812AU) on kali 3.0 dual boot on laptop and a wifi booster sunsanhs 2500sh . i try to use evil twin for a longe range . it worked in the past for a closed range with my nha . but my booster can boost only awus ach on kali (and boost them both on win 10) somy question is : is there a way to make my awus036nha reach longer range on kali ? Or do i need to upgrade my driver or bying a Yagi antenna?

You need another antenna. Even if that existed, a driver upgrade will NEVER increase the range of wireless adapter. This is a piece of hardware.

hello, I have a problem with a Kali with ath10k driver. the system shows the wifi panel but it doesn't show any wifi network. During installation I got that installation required 2 files (ath10k/pre-cal-pci-0000:01:00.0.bin and ath10k/cal-pci-0000:01:00.0.bin), I skipped that because I didn't have these files. Now The only thing that I found was this:

    systemctl status NetworkManager
    NetworkManager [489]: <error> [1557675162.6447] sup-iface[0x55c7b0cda390,wlan0]; error adding interface; wpa_supplicant couldn't grab this interface.

    uname -a
    Linux username 4.19.0-kali3-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.20-1kali1 (2019-02-14) x86_64 GNU/Linux

I do not have Ethernet connection so the only way to fix is passing files with a USB pendrive.
