Hello, I'm fairly new to Kali Linux

I'm trying to get my wireless adapter to show on iwconfig and ifconfig. Nothing is showing up
lsusb is showing the adapter is connected as well dmesg. It comes up with device descriptor read/64, error -32

I'm not sure if I'm doing something or how to resolve this issue.

The chipset in the adapter is a realtek 802.11n NIC I will be happy to provide more information for whoever is willing to help

    Thank you in advance

I've tried two Realtek chipsets with Kali.

rt8192su - Will NOT work with kali linux
This chipset behaves very erratically, symptoms range from turning on and off on its own (especially when trying to change the mac address) it does not support wpa2 security if you wanted to use it as a Hotspot. The options in hotspot mode are Open (No security) or WEP.

rt8188cu - Will WORK with kali linux
This one works great. Allows the user to change the mac address, supports wpa2 security in hotspot mode and has excellent range.

All Ralink or MediaTek chipsets have also worked very well.

Do you have another wifi adapter maybe, doesn't have to be new.

    Let us know,

    Alex

    Find out Realtek driver

I bought a Realtek usb-wifi adapter and wanted to install the driver:
First i ran: sudo apt-get update
Than: I plugged in the usb-stick and typed lsusb:

    root@kali:~# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0bda:b812 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. 802.11ac NIC
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0e0f:0002 VMware, Inc. Virtual USB Hub
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0e0f:0003 VMware, Inc. Virtual Mouse
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

Than: sudo apt search realtek, but i dont find the right driver, because there's no name.

I have a VM ware with kali 2019.4

    Wich driver can i chose

Hey, everybody. As I read on the Internet, the problem is with the new 5.4 kernel. Help to solve the problem. The system doesn't see the built-in wifi module intel ac 9560. Awus036nh via usb works fine.

    Issue with my Alfa AWUS036ACM, Kali 2020.1, Linux version 5.4.0-kali3-amd64 (devel@kali.org) (gcc version 9.2.1 20200104 (Debian 9.2.1-22)) #1 SMP Debian 5.4.13-1kali1 (2020-01-20)

    here is the dmesg:
[72229.889245] usb 4-1: new SuperSpeed Gen 1 USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd

As I understood from Alfa support, this version of Kernel does not need driver installed, it already has them, but it does not work, I tried installing drivers as well and it fails in "make install"

new full-speed USB device number error while in rescue mode

    Hello,

I loaded Kali DVD and entered rescue mode (systemctl rescue) and I get the USB error over and over even when I am modifying a document with nano editor. The error messages appeared in the middle of the commands I enter (image below) is this normal?

    https://ibb.co/84fFQ7v

The error, although the device number keeps changing (i. e., 7, 8, 9, n) is:

usb 2-14: New full-speed USB device number 127 using xhci_hcd
    usb 2-14: New USB device found, idVendor=138a, idProduct=0050, bcbDevice= 0.60
    usb 2-14: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=1
    usb 2-14: SerialNumber: 20100020d28d
usb 2-14: USB disconnect, device number 127

    Thank you

*But When Airodump-ng Start Working Nothing Happened. (last updated version of kali)

So , I Use Another Version of Kali (live usb) And Evry Thing Works
    Perfectly!

Hello . I recently installed kali 2020.2a , but the biggest problem is the wifi . I mean , I am connected to the internet via ethernet , but actually I'm from my laptop ( Windows 10 --VMbox--Kali) and also I'm from wifi , not ethernet .

The thing is I tried everything that there is on youtube , on sites etc and the closest for me was to make kali show "wifi dissabled" .

After that I can not enable it , I can't even click it on top right .

I tried network-manager , I changed the network manager file from "false" to "true" , I installed like 2 or 3 different compat-wireless , did some tests with iwconfig , airmon-ng etc . Nothing works .

Before you say that if you already have internet access to kali via the vmbox , why do you need it . Because I want to search for other wifi devices around me so I can try programms like wifi passwords .

    Dear almon ,

As per your above post I realised that you have windows10 as host machine

You have installed Kali linux on VM .

The host machine having wifi card into it

Through that you can access your internet on Kali Machine by ethernet adaptor .

The answer for this question is -

you have to install kali as host-machine else you have to access internet through ethernet on host machine and that adaptor you have to share with VM and select your wifi from

adding (if you are using Virtual Machine Application ) VM ->USB setting add your wifi adaptor or you have to buy usb adaptor .

Because by default your VM sharing internet of Your host machine and wifi card not detected into it

I have an Hp 215 laptop and i have a wireless driver problem that i need some help with. Kali says it is broadcom b43 and the driver does work to a certain extent. i have digged and digged and i just cant seem to find the answer. So when i go to run fern wifi cracker, i get an error message saying that there was a problem setting up monitor mode. The Network Manager cuts out and i have to reboot to make the driver work again. Now as Kali suggests, i read the airmon-ng documentation to find some solutions, but fern wifi cracker still doesnt work. So if i run the commands sudo airmon-ng check kill, i completely loose the network manager and cannot start it again with the service start command and have to reboot to make things normal again but when i use the sudo ifconfig down iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor ifconfig wlan0 up and everything works for the aircrack suite. i can dump and see networks and inject, everything on that end works, but my problem is when other programs like fern wifi cracker putting the card down in monitor mode. nothing wants to work after that. And i can put the card back in managed mode after im done using the aircrack suite. So i have a pretty unique problem i would say and i am asking for guidance. I tried to best to explain my issue thoroughly and trying not to be a noob but i am still kinda new to all this. Thanks

hey everyone, sorry for my poor english, Dad told me there are drivers for rt73 which allow you to increase the power of the card, but I can't find them. Does anyone know anything about this?

For some old wifi network adapters, the drivers are deprecated for Linux, especially for System D. So this is not an issue of Kali Linux...
