    Modifying the Default Login Screen

I would like to modify the default login background image, and was able to replace the file "/usr/share/images/desktop-base/login-background.png" with the desired background. Now, I am trying to put the original back (kali-wallpaper_1280x1024.png) and it does not update - the prior image is still displayed on the Login screen, even though this file has been deleted.

Even on a new install, I have inconsistent results ... it works sometimes, but not all the time.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Did you rename the file back to "login-background.png"? If not, that's probably the reason why it's not updating. Try that.
