    Running menu items as su

    Hello
I'm rather new to kali, and linux in general. I'm trying to get the applications in the kali linux menu to run under su, as many need the privileges.
For example, I used alacarte to edit the fern-wifi-cracker shortcut to execute the command sh -c "gksudo fern-wifi-cracker" (just added the gksudo), but the password prompt won't show up, and nothing happens. If I just paste that into the terminal it works normally. What is the issue here?
Also, do I have to change every single entry in the menu or is there a faster way? Am I just supposed to log into root?
    Thank you.

Kali is designed to be run as root.
