Question Problem with don't matched kernels.

    Hello Dear Kali.org forums!

I have problem with instalation kali on hard disk. the problem is mismatched kernels version. The error log is:

Live system kernel and installer kernel don't match
The installer can only be used if the kernel version of live system (3.7-trunk-686-pae) and of the installer (3.7-trunk-486) are the same.
Please reboot with the correct kernel (3.7-trunk-486).

So... As we can see the live USB boot Kali kernel version is diffrent than installer kernel version. I should probably change my live kali kernel version to (3.7-trunk-486) but the problem is that i don't know how. I was lookinh on google since 2 hours and i didn't solve the problem. By the way nobody does.

Would somebody help me with this please?

    Greets.

This is a known issue: http://bugs.kali.org/view.php?id=345.

The solution is not to use the "Live Desktop" installer to install it, instead select one of the install options (install or graphic install) on the boot screen.

    Hello Kali Team,

What is live cd kernel and installer kernel? does it mean that live cd has two kernels:- one to run the OS and other to install?

I am using VMware Workstation 10.0 and tried installing kali1.0.3/5. Facing the same issue in both. After booting the live CD and choosing to install from GUI--> Application->System Tools-> Install Kali Linux, i get the same error mentioned above in this thread. So i reboot again and choose Install/Graphical install from boot menu, but in both cases when the installation reaches 69% it fails. Image of error is attached.

    I also referred this:- http://bugs.kali.org/view.php?id=345.

Seeing the comments in above link, does that mean i need to create custom iso as mentioned in below link? If yes does it mean i need to compile with 486-pae settings?
If not please help in understanding whats the issue and how can it can be solved.

While searching in forum i got this link :-
    http://docs.kali.org/downloading/liv...ustom-kali-iso

    Cheers!!

I was able to work around my problem by installing kali 1.0.5 instead.
