Hello everyone,

I would like to install newest gtk+ 3.8.2. I need it for installations of new apps as well as I would like to write some apps in C++ by myself.

I added "deb http://http.kali.org/kali kali main contrib non-free" to /etc/apt/sources.list, then I tried to update and upgrade, but it didn't give me newest gtk+.
So I downloaded newest gtk+, glib, gdk-pixbuf and atk (these are prerequisuties for gtk).
I installed glib with
Code:
./configure
make
make install
,

I tried to install atk, but it says
Code:
checking for GLIB - version >= 2.31.2...
*** 'pkg-config --modversion glib-2.0' returned 2.36.4, but GLIB (2.32.4)
*** was found! If pkg-config was correct, then it is best
*** to remove the old version of GLib. You may also be able to fix the error
*** by modifying your LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable, or by editing
*** /etc/ld.so.conf. Make sure you have run ldconfig if that is
*** required on your system.
*** If pkg-config was wrong, set the environment variable PKG_CONFIG_PATH
*** to point to the correct configuration files
no
configure: error:
*** GLIB 2.31.2 or better is required. The latest version of
*** GLIB is always available from ftp://ftp.gtk.org/. If GLIB is installed
*** but not in the same location as pkg-config add the location of the file
*** glib-2.0.pc to the environment variable PKG_CONFIG_PATH.
I assume that it is up to me to specify all installation paths so it really installs all gtk stuff into where it should be.
Also, I must do something to inform my system I just installed new version.
I know I could just replace old files with new ones, but I don't know how to find them.

Anyone can help?

PS. Sorry if something is wrong with this post/thread. Feel free to ask me for important things I could miss while writing this.

My system is Kali 1.0.4 (installed from 1.0.1, then regularly upgraded)

Thanks in advance for any clues
