Thread: How do you make a cluster using Kali?

  1. #1

Question How do you make a cluster using Kali?

I have several towers that are all the same hardware-wise, and would like to cluster them for faster crunching.(aircrack)

How would one create a cluster with these using Kali?

    (Also, is it even possible?)

This is a hard one. The problem is not to make Kali OS cluster/distributed system as is the problem to build all apps to support parallelization. Although brute forcing passwords is highly parralelizing task, this feature is not implemented in most of the apps.

You can use moscrack for cluster processing WPA, its based on aircrack-ng. BTW not all your hardware has to be same, you can mix and match nodes, master contacts them over ssh.

ah well, that sux, so the OS itself can be clustered but the tools wont work off all the pc's/cpus in the cluster except for this moscrack?

I guess i'll have to upgrade my machine for the best pen testing speed possible, lol

    Very cool !

If I ever get enough spare time I would love to try to build something similar

This is the benefit of Linux its opensource so I could be possible to port some of the programs over to a cluster environment I have a 3 machines to test with and I'm going to work on recoding and optimizing it to work on a cluster.

Even a low end GPU will be magnitudes faster then several CPUs combined. Pyrit is extremely outdated. The best GPU solution is OclHashCat which supports Virtual OpenCL for distributed cracking.
