    Kernel Upgrade (Solved)

    Hi all, my name is Chris and i'm new here and new to Kali Linux, have used distro's like Gentoo, Sabayon, Mint, backtrack and so on earlier

    I just installed Kali on my Asus s400c laptop, and like every other distro's i have this wireless network problem, the signal is so weak i have to sit 2-3 meters from my access point.
    In Gentoo and Sabayon i fixed this with an kernel upgrade to 3.10.xx, so my question here is, whats the newest supported kernel i can compile in Kali? And will it affect the Kali exploits and scripts ?

    And here are the output of my hardware, just in case someone knows another workaround for this?

    root@chrnux:/home/chris# lspci -v

    What steps did you take to upgrade the kernel, and can you confirm that airodump-ng does not show channel fixed -1 error?

    Just followed these steps, this is for x64, used it for some while now, and haven't noticed any bugs yet also tried kernels above and below, and they seemed buggy on my setup.

    Download the needed packages:

    $ wget -c kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.7-saucy/linux-headers-3.10.7-031007_3.10.7-031007.201308150319_all.deb

    $ wget -c kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.7-saucy/linux-headers-3.10.7-031007-generic_3.10.7-031007.201308150319_amd64.deb

    $ wget -c kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.7-saucy/linux-image-3.10.7-031007-generic_3.10.7-031007.201308150319_amd64.deb

    Install Kernel 3.10.7 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Derivates:

    $ sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.10.7* linux-image-3.10.7*

    I'm sorry I sound like a total noob. But shouldn't you be using Debian mirrors or doesn't it matter?

    When will Kali release a new kali-modified kernel ? Upgraded to debian 3.10.7 but missing some of the patches and config that comes with kali's own kernel, been using it for some months now, and found out that not everything works optionally.
