    no GUI

hello all! After a update of Kali linux, i encounter a strange problem (i'm sure it's a easy solution, i'm just noob).
I have kali installed on my pc as a dualboot along with win7. after instalation of updates, linux loads all the modules but when it starts to guy where i usualy put my password for root, it appears black, with cursor in top left just sitting there, like it's still loading smth. I have waited some time and since nothing happend i tried again, with the same results...
i noticed when i load my linux, i have these options to pick:
3.10.3-amd64 <--- usualy this is here i started it before this update
    3.10.3-amd64 recovery mode
    3.7-trunk-amd64
    3.7-trunk-amd64 recovery mode
    Win7

Thing is that the top one is not working anymore, dunno why, but i tried the other one, the 3.7-trunk-amd64 wich is working.
What is the difference between them? and what i am doing wrong? how can i solve this problem?

    ty in advance

Although my knowledge is limited, i think that shows 2 different kernels for the same operating system(kali) and you have the choice to whether boot on the old kernel or the new one.
