Trouble logging into gnome after network install

Hi,

I have installed Kali linux in vmware using network install image. After repeated errors, I have managed to install Kali without gnome.
From the shell prompt I installed gnome successfully. Now am not able to login with gnome, but shell access works fine.
How can I login to gnome now ?

I have managed to login to Gnome now following the below link.

Now the tools menu is missing. How can I add that ?
