    Incorrect SHA-1 hash

I tried downloading the Kali Linux 1.0.5 64-Bit ISO from the http://www.kali.org/downloads/ (mirror:
http://archive-4.kali.org/kali-image....0.5-amd64.iso). Both times the download completed successfully (twice, it failed due to Network Error) the SHA-1 hash was determined to be d6063b04381f603a2602229974b35d3932a53223 by Free MD5 SHA1 Verifier. Clearly, d6063b04381f603a2602229974b35d3932a53223 and 914eebd1ae64015d4d8b2281143caa466d44b280 are not the same. I would say that something is wrong with the source as neither ISOs were able to be read by Oracle VirtualBox (Version 4.2.18 r88780) on my Win7 (amd64) VAIO laptop.

Checking SHA-1 is essential, if the ISO could be read. Unfortunately, neither of these cases is True, especially if the SHA-1 provided both on http://www.kali.org/downloads/ and http://archive-4.kali.org/kali-image...1.0.5/SHA1SUMS are "correct".

    Anyone else having this problem?

I'm going to try the Torrent; see how that goes.

    Official SHA1 checksums
    Kali Linux 1.0.5 64-Bit ISO: 914eebd1ae64015d4d8b2281143caa466d44b280
    Kali Linux 1.0.5 64-Bit Mini ISO: 85d772a0679bff34e5bed1a95822cf075044e817
So you have an ISO that did download successfully. So you can save your bandwidth regarding re-downloading via torrent
There isn't any point trying to use the ISO that didn't download correctly (the bad SHA1 one).

There isn't anything (known) wrong with the master ISO regarding booting into virtual machines (VMware & VirtualBox).
You may need to alter the virtual machine settings to fit your setup (and/or tweak your bios).
If you can paste a log file/take screenshot(s)/share some settings you may be able to find more help.

Reading about on the forum, more people have issues using Virtual box than VMware, so you could try and use VMware Player (free).

There is also a pre-made VM that you can download if you wish. However, I believe its x86, not x64.
