Hi I have an alienware m18x with kali installed on the HDD. After finding out that the default card on my machine is not supported I decided to look around to purchase a usb card so i could use kali and other linux distros on my machine. I ended up purchasing a Alfa NHA from amazon. When I connected it, plug and play like expected so I ran apt-get update and upgrade to make sure I was on the latest version (3.4.2 is what it says in my system detail). After playing around with kali (reaver, wifite, and web surfing my 3rd time) for a while the card stopped blinking and the internet disconnected message appeared and after aprox 5 seconds my computer locked up. I have tried looking around using some google fu, also searching the forum and working my way through the logs, but no avail. I found that if I disconect the card before the computer locks up, it doesnt lock up (so maybe it's the card?). I tried changing the usb cable without any luck. My card brought 2 antennas a small and a large one, it seems to lock up faster with the larger one. Im going to dump the part of the logs that seems relevant to the card in hopes that someone knows how to read it better than me
