Hi, I have a d-link DWA-162 n900 and virtualbox is detecting the USB but kali is not. I don't even see a wlan, i only see eth and lo. Anyone knows if d-link DWA-162 n900 USB wireless adapter is compatible with kali?
That's a Realtek 8192cu. You are using the kernel driver and it does not properly match the chipset. Most of the features and abilities are not capable using that driver. D-link has a linux driver available for download and it is listed as "hardware version B". Select hardware version B to download the driver. http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DWA-131 If you are using kernel >3.4 you will have to modify the script or use https://github.com/pvaret/rtl8192cu-fixes.git from github.
The driver installed is 8192cu instead of rtl8192cu.
It has the rtl8191su chipset. The probable Linux driver to it is r8712u which is not under the firmware-realtek from repos, so you may end up using this driver: r92su (Will replace the r8712u)
Read and download from here: https://github.com/chunkeey/rtl8192su
luck.
