remmina can't RDP - failes to load rdp plugin

After installing Remmina 0.9.99.1 from the apt repository, I can't see the RDP plugin in the plugins list and can't find RDP as the connection protocol. When starting from a console I get this: Failed to load plugin: /usr/lib/remmina/plugins/remmina-plugin-rdp.so . The plugin is in the right location and freerdp is installed.

Please help I should mention that remmina was working on an earlier install of Kali, installed in the same way ...

    same problem

    i'm having the same problem,
running remmina from console clearly states:

    Remmina plugin VNC (type=Protocol) registered.
    Remmina plugin VNCI (type=Protocol) registered.
    Failed to load plugin: /usr/lib/remmina/plugins/remmina-plugin-rdp.so.
    Remmina plugin SFTP (type=Protocol) registered.
    Remmina plugin SSH (type=Protocol) registered.

when trying to build it from source i came across this error:

CMake Error: The following variables are used in this project, but they are set to NOTFOUND.
Please set them or make sure they are set and tested correctly in the CMake files:
    FREERDP_CHANNELS_LIBRARY
linked by target "remmina-plugin-rdp" in directory /root/FreeRDP-Remmina-356c033/remmina-plugins/rdp
    FREERDP_KBD_LIBRARY
linked by target "remmina-plugin-rdp" in directory /root/FreeRDP-Remmina-356c033/remmina-plugins/rdp

    -- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!

still trying to figure out how to overcome this, will update if i can find a workaround/fix.

Ok, after investigating a bit, i found a solution for this problem, this is how to fix it:
    Browse to http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/libfreerdp1
and download your suitable package i386 for 32bit and amd64 for 64bit.
    open terminal and type:
    For example: wget http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool...b7u2_amd64.deb
    type: dpkg -i libfreerdp1_1.0.1-1.1+deb7u2_amd64.deb

    And thats it.
it will fix remmina rdp protocol.

Hi, I have the same problem, the fix posted here does work, however is there any chance of getting the original kali package fixed? Seems to be the better long-term solution...
    THANKS!

This quick fix is just a temporary solution - I get package mismatch on every apt action with that older debian package, is there any chance of getting the rdp plugin fixed for remmina in the original kali archives? From what I see on a first look this seems to be some missing libs, should be easy to fix for the package maintainer. Would be great to have such important thing like RDP plugin working on a network tool like Kali
    Thanks!

This (using deb7u3) fixed the issue for me as well, thanks for sharing.
    cheers,

I solved this issue with installing the latest version of the freerdp lib.
You can find your version at : http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/f/freerdp/

the version I needed for my amd64 laptop with Kali installed was
    http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool...b7u3_amd64.deb

I downloaded installed it by using Terminal and the following commands :
    wget http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool...b7u3_amd64.deb
    dpkg -i libfreerdp1_1.0.1-1.1+deb7u3_amd64.deb

    That was all

Guys please help me with this, im a new linux user and have been trying to fix this for months now.

I tried the above solution, but I get unmet dependencies.

I removed remmina then install the libfreerdp package, now I cannot install the remmina package again.

    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
    freerdp-x11 : Depends: libfreerdp1 (>= 1.1.0~beta1+git20131203-0kali) but 1.0.1-1.1+deb7u3 is to be installed
    libfreerdp-plugins-standard : Depends: libfreerdp1 (>= 1.1.0~beta1+git20131203-0kali) but 1.0.1-1.1+deb7u3 is to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

    Thanks guys!
