Ettercap dns_spoof not working

This is actually my first post on this forums. I figured If I wanted actual support other than stupid answer there is no better place to come than here.

So, I have installed Kali Linux on my Laptop as main operating system.
I have everything updated and I am running GNOME.
Whatever I do however, I can not get dns_spoof plugin of ettercap working. Whether a victimIP and a routerIP is specified, or the whole network, it will not work.

I've been struggling for around 36 hours with this problem now. I've tried to get the simplest and most common spoof of facebook as you will see below.

My etter.dns file: (note, X is my laptops internal IP, T is target)

*.facebook.com A 192.168.1.X
facebook.com A 192.168.1.X

My ettercap command:

ettercap -Tqi wlan0 -P dns_spoof -M ARP /192.168.1.T/ /192.168.1.X/

Any help is and will be appreciated!

Hello Basilisk.

I'm having the exact same problem. No matter what I do the dns_soof doesn't work. I read an issue at the Ettercap Github repo (https://github.com/Ettercap/ettercap/issues/360) that someone was having the same problem as we are.
To save you some time, you have to uninstall the ettercap that came on Kali and download/compile/install the one from the Github repo.
Right now I'm cloning the repo and soon I'll install it and test it again.

if i may join you guys ..... i have the same problem yet i am not able to by pass it - i have downloaded and compiled manually from github as haoko suggested but it still doesn't work. can anyone suggest a solution for this ?
