    Installation Kali Linux 1.0.6 AMD 64 with LVM (no encryption )

    Good afternoon ,

    I am having problems installing this new version via LVM .
    The problem is that immediately after a successful installation , when GRUB , I get right after a message stating that my volume group ( VG Group) was not found impossible that my system load correctly .

    My partitioning scheme is :

    - A primary partition of 300MB for / boot ( this partition marked as bootable in the first installation and then left unchecked this option in a second installation - both gave error) .

    - A second partition ( logical partition ) containing all the remaining disk space being used for LVM .

    - From this partition that was used for all I created LVM logical volumes as:

    root ;
    usr ;
    usr / local ;
    opt ;
    srv ;
    var ;
    var / log ;
    tmp ;
    swap ;
    home ;

    Well , entire installation was successful .
    But when I give a boot I got the error reported above.

    Does the problem is that GRUB2 is getting lost to find the volume of my LVM group and then be able to find the root partition which as I said is within the volume group?

    Thanks for any help

    Att ,

    Ricardo

    Do you have more than 1 HDD or just one?

    I strongly suggest to avoid so many partitions for the system.

    If I were you I would do: /, /boot, /home and the rest inone partition since /var and /usr are critical partition to root. Try it and see if it works.
