i cant update kali linux n8000 kernel?

Tried everything it still says im on kernel 3.0.31 i tried install the 3.12 kernel but still get 3.0.31

Any help

The Galaxy Note can't just use an arbitrary newer kernel. Tablets and cell phones tend to have very specific kernels, and while the SoC code itself will tend to be in an upstream kernel, the boards themselves rarely are.
