disable network manager auto connect feature

everytime is turn on my system, network manager automatically connects to previous APs. I don't want this to happen. How can I disable network manager auto connect?

    I am currently just running
    Code:
     service network-manager stop
when i am using ethernet connections or tethering from my phone so i do not connect with APs.

thanks all for any and all help!

Go into the network manager drop-down menu and uncheck connect automatically for each connection point in your list. Or let network manager use the device to connect to a connection point like a AP. Once connected disconnect it and that device will not attempt to connect again automatically.
