kali 1.0.6 VM > no AP found ( AWUS036NEH )

hi all,
downloaded the VM version and using it with latest vm player 64bit.
i installed vm ware tools in kali and did a apt-get update and upgrade.
i killed every pid that airmon showed could be interfering.
monitor mode is running, but when i do airodump-ng mon0, the card doesnt show any ap.
the rt3070 is natively supported for the card isnt it?
or should i upgrade some drivers?

i was having the same issue with a new wireless adapter i have bought, i have changed the mini usb cable and now the adapter is working great
