Missing OS on USB live Install

    Hello all,

I am having problems installing Kali to a usb. tried several times on multiple thumb drives, with 2 instances of the 64 bit x86 iso. same issue with all three of my machines, it tells me "missing operating system" and proceeds to bood the hdd. The drives were all new partitions with ext4.

I used the dd command as prescribed in the online instructions. I can see the files have xferred. I even tried the unetbootin route to get it working to no avail (cursor with a blank screen does nothing.)

I have used several distros in the past and Im not a complete noob, but maybe I am making a complete noob mistake. I followed the instructions very carefully and I am at a loss as to why I am getting these results.

I am determined to get this working and I would appreciate some input/help.

    Thanks in advance,

    Freeman

please post exactly what are you doing using dd command.

Some people do not stick to the installation instruction and change some parameters like bs.

Also verify the usb stick and sha1 on the download.
