    traceroute -S patch

Does anyone know the easiest way to implement the patched version of traceroute introduced by route/daemon9 to add the -S option to force packets to have a fixed port number? It seems like this would be very useful on all variations of Kali. Is there a reason why this is not a good idea? This patch is pretty old so if so I would greatly appreciate any suggestions of alternatives. Thanks to anyone who has a reply.

For anyone wondering about the advantages of this option, it allows you to do things like send requests on port 53 (DNS) and potentially pass packets through filtered network devices that would normally reject them, unmasking the addresses and giving us much more information about the path data takes going over the network.
