Don't know how to install driver for wireless adapter

    Hi all members..

I am a very beginner user of kali and this is my first time im using any other OS other than WINDOWS. So i dont even know a single thing about it.

I have successfully created a bootable USB and booting the laptop with the USB and running the Kali from it. Everything looks like working fine.

But the problem im facing is Kali is not using my wifi adapter. it works with LAN but not wireless. I dont know how to install driver, i searched alot but no luck. There alot of drivers then patching then kernal then headers, i was so confuse about all these things...

    iwconfig says no wireless network

but lspci is showing the wireless adapter hardware which is Broadcom adapter.

please someone give a bit of time and get me this installed so i can use my wifi in kali.

Also i need to ask a simple thing, If i will make any change while booting with USB will it be permanent if i reboot again with USB or everything will be refreshed and i have to perform eveything again eveytime???

    waiting for the help....

lspci showing the device bcz kernel able to detect that you have hardware device for that but iwconfig is not showing bcz your device is not enabled bcz of no driver ....... the linux driver format is basically .so file you have to put that file in your system folders ............ so file is like dll in windows basically shared object ........

    Hi there MAQ678

    You can look here:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2225175
    https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/243203
    http://askubuntu.com/questions/37705...dapter-working
    and here:
    https://github.com/anthonywong/mt7630
    MT7630
Here you can find the linux driver for MediaTek (Ralink) 7630 wifi card. The current status of the driver is it works under 3.5, and possibly fails to even compile in later version of kernels.

Hi, I've found this driver (http://www.mediatek.com/en/downloads/mt7630-pcie/) yesterday but when I tried to install it I have this problem:

    root@kali:~/Desktop/MT7630E_Wi-Fi_BT_Source_V3.14_20140625/MT7630E_Wi-Fi_BT_Source Release_20140625/rt2x00# make clean
    make -C /lib/modules/3.14-kali1-amd64/build M=/root/Desktop/MT7630E_Wi-Fi_BT_Source_V3.14_20140625/MT7630E_Wi-Fi_BT_Source Release_20140625/rt2x00 clean
make: *** /lib/modules/3.14-kali1-amd64/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
    make: *** [clean] Error 2
