Our Team is also experiencing problems with kali-linux HD installs. We have posted is the General Section
I used the following method and everything seems good so far, saying that I haven't used any of the tools yet. LOL
Using Kali & GParted I created 3 partitions on a removable USB devive:
Partition1 = FAT32, Size 3572mb = For kali-linux-1.0.7-amd64.iso.
Partition2 = ext4, Size 3572mb = For persistence.
Partition3 = FAT32, Size ****mb = Remaining space used for general storage.
I then ejected the Kali-USB-Device and reinserted it again, then done the following commands:
mkdir -p /mnt/my_usb
mount /dev/sdb2 /mnt/my_usb
echo "/ union" > /mnt/my_usb/persistence.conf
umount /dev/sdb2
Then I ejected the Kali-USB-Device and shutdown Kali.
Then I started up Windows 7 and created the Kali-USB-Device using Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.4.3.exe and kali-linux-1.0.7-amd64.iso.
After Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.4.3.exe had finished I ejected the Kali-USB-Device again, then shutdown the computer.
I then reinserted the Kali-USB-Device, then powered on the computer and booted up the Kali-USB-Device.
I chosse the non-persistent boot option.
After kali had loaded up I launched the kali installer via Applications/System_Tools/Kali-Installer.
I choose to dual boot it with Windows 7 and installed it to the largest free space.
The install went well and I didn't have any issue's at all.
I then booted up the HDD install of kali-linux-1.0.7-amd64 and all seems to be good so far. :-)
Many thanks to the Kali Team.
Which ISO file did you use? Is this x86 or x64? Normal or mini?
Did you check the SHA1 afterwards?
Did you download via torrent or HTTP?
...and for what its worth, which version of Parallels Desktop are you also using?
