Hi, my dual boot setup on a macbook pro was working fine until I upgraded. Now it freezes during bootup at the same place every time (in both regular and recovery boot).

I tried doing a clean install, but the problem remains.

What is weird is that I can boot fine from super-grub-disk --> find grub.cfg --> kali, but not directly into kali. Does anyone know why this is?

When I try to boot directly in, I get the grub boot menu (so it doesn't seem like an efi problem), and it prompts me to unlock the encrypted partition, which it also does fine. Then shortly after it freezes and requires a hard reset.

It seems to freeze when it starts up my video card, maybe?

The last line I get in DMESG when it crashes is:
[ 29.696908] Netfilter messages via NETLINK v0.30.

When it works, that line is followed by:
[ 29.908617] nvidia 0000:01:00.0: irq 55 for MSI/MSI-X
[ 29.923996] ACPI Warning: \_SB_.PCI0.P0P2.GFX0._DSM: Argument #4 type mismatch - Found [Buffer], ACPI requires [Package] (20131218/nsarguments-95)

I've noticed that controls for my display brightness have quit working as well. Perhaps this is related?

I've already tried reinstalling nvidia drivers, but that hasn't done the trick.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them!
