Ralink 3290 Wireless mac80211 Hardware issue?

    Hey Guys,
I have just upgraded to the latest version of Kali 3.7-Trunk-AMD64 from Kali 3.14-AMD-64

My wireless was working flawlessly before the upgrade and failed to work afterwards.

Initially I thought this was an issue with the kernel upgrade but think this maybe a hardware issue now as after using the old kernel the card worked at first but now randomly experiencing the same problem even with the old kernel.

I have not had had the card work at all with the new kernel however....

The network manager is listing 'device not ready'....when trying to ifconfig wlan0 up i received "SIOCCSIFLAGS input output error"

the device is listed under lspci:

02:00.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. Device 3290
02:00.1 Bluetooth: Ralink corp. Device 3298
06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 06)

Here is the output for dmesg with the card WORKING

    root@localhost:~# dmesg
