Yes I extracted the iso to an usb flash drive.

It fails at the installation part.. Everything goes well the installation part runs for +- 15 sec and than I get a message with something like an installation step failed, you try to run the failing item again from the menu

now I get an error reading release file that's a new one..

it could be that your the iso did not download properly. browse to your kali linux 1.0.6 folder, there should be a file named 'kali-linux-1.0.6-amd64.txt.sha1sum'. open this file and correspond the SHA1SUM digits with the string below

281ddb3d14619a973e254b8f484b7fe27defa822 (this is how mine is)

    now go to the link

    http://onlinemd5.com/

this link can generate a SHA1SUM hash for your iso file...if the SHA1SUM digits generated are the same as compared to the one in your file..then most likely your file has been downloaded properly
NOTE: ENSURE YOU SELECT SHA1SUM OPTION ON THIS SITE INSTEAD OF MD5!..

if the SHA1SUM digits are the same as compared to the ones in your file...... follow the thread below

probably you can try imaging the iso file on a usb with the program LinuxLive USB Creator
    download link

I've done all steps the SHA1 is correct

I've used LiLi as usb creator now but I still got

An installation step failed. You can try to run the failing item again from the menu, or skip it and choose something else. The failing step is: Install the system.

I have used an E4500 2.19Ghz CPU which is a much lower model than yours...i do not think it can be a hardware problem...have you tried formating your usb flash before writting the iso or try another flash drive to install the live image? OR TRY SKIPPING THE CONFIGURING TO NETWORK STAGE AND START FROM THE SETTING UP PASSWORD STAGE IN THE INSTALLATION MENU. DISCONNECT ANY NETWORK DEVICE IF NEEDED
